remove audio part of mpg

zmartha posted 2009 Oct 18 17:51
I have looked and looked on this site for info on how to remove the audio from mpg video, but could not find something on how to remove the audio tracks from mpg files which I downloaded from my Pana camcorder. I have Nero 7 and Audacity and imageMixer3.

Usually it is the wind hitting the mike that I want to remove. I would prefer a freeware as I don't do a lot of editing. When I add a music wav to the audio tracks in Nero7 Vision, it just records over the wind and makes it worse as the original and the new track are both playing.

I tried the 9 yr olds suggestion to make a silent track, but it doesn't mask the original wind noise. Please help!

In Nero 7 double click on the video track and a volume control will appear, set to zero and add another audio track.

Or you could demultiplex the mpg to a separate video and audio stream using batchdemux or tmpgenc(file->mpeg tools->simple demultiplexer) . Then just add the video stream(m2v,mpv) in nero.

MovieGeek, you say, "In Nero 7 double click on the video track and a volume control will appear, set to zero and add another audio track."

When I have the mpg in Nero 7 Vision, there already are 2 audio tracks showing and when I double click on either one, just the Properties box flies up telling its length. Right clicking either track just brings up zoo-in zoom-out. I am in "Make DVD DVD-Video"--is that the right place?

To Baldrick: I tried tmpgenc, and it doesn't work with already mpg files. So, does the other, batchdemux, work differently?

I looked at tmpgenc again today since I wasn't seeing any more answers from you, and no wonder I couldn't follow your instructions File>Mpg Tools.

A Project Wizard window opened up also when I clicked on tmpgenc and nearly covered the main window, so thank you for showing me how to split the audio sound from the video in a mpg mpeg. Now I can take out the windy sounds.
