| It's not a standalone dvd player. Moving you to our dvd writers section.
PLay with VLC media player or install dvd43 or anydvd and you wont have any region problems. |

| DVD writers do NOT have "codes" to make them region free. The only way to do that is to replace the firmware - IF (and it's a big "if") there is a replacement region free firmware available.
I found this to link to firmware for your player, but since the download is all in Japanese, I can't tell if this is region free firmware or normal firmware from LG. http://files.rpc1.org/index.php?act=view&id=5550 In the past it was a lot easier to get region free firmware from this site. It has changed a lot since I last looked at it and it's changed for the worse. |

| Thanks very much to both of you. I realize that region codes are for playback, but did not realize that DVD writers/ Players do not have unlock codes. I attempted to watch a DVD last nght, and was asked by the default media player, to set the region: region 1 for US. So naturally I suspected that I might be able to make this region free as not I have only 4 changes left. Thanks again. |
