Recommend a Windows 7 compatible Tv Tuner

zeek543 posted 2009 Oct 27 18:28
I just installed windows 7 Prof. I like it so far, and it seems better (slimmer for sure) than vista home sp2.

But I have not been able to get my old old old ATI Tv Wonder Pro (PCI) and ATI TV Wonder USB tv tuners to work on Win7 yet.

My system specs:

Intel Q6600, 2 GB ram, 2 TB HDD space, Gigabyte P35-DS3P mobo (which has PCI, PCIx1, PCIx16 slots available). Plus I have eSATA, USB2.0 and Firewire.

So Please recommend a new TV Tuner card for me! I'd like it to work with Win7's MC so I can try the whole MC extender thing with my Xbox360. Oh and, I have Comcast cable, only local networks in HD from comcast right now.

Thanks!

Hauppauge HVR-1800. I think you'll need a remote with IR blasters for your cable box though.

I don't use a cable box. I am just hooked straight in to the wall outlet. So my HD needs are met by QAM or OTA.

Thanks for the recommendation. I saw newegg had several hauppauge cards, is there any major differences? Is there any website that has good prices on these things?

Thanks for any other suggestions!

HVR-1800 like rallynavvie said for PCI-e x1 slots, and HVR-1600 (what I got) for PCI slots

Have you look into silcondust's hdhomerun?

I've got an HDHomerun sitting here gathering dust because it doesn't work with my digital cable carrier. Had it for nearly 2 years and barely ever used it.
