| I'm well aware that the best video converter for OS X is Visualhub and I have it, but I'm having some issues that I'm trying to figure out for converting video for my ps3 with MKV files.
1) I have an MKV file that's already encoded with AVC video and AC-3 audio, so when I try to do a video pass-through to an AVI file, the file doesn't seem to work at all (on my computer so I never tried it on my ps3). Is there any way just to switch the container without having to re-encode it to play on my PS3? (Not sure if AVI is the right container for playback or not) 2) I also have quite a few MKVs with h.264 Video but a52 audio codec. When I looked it up, I found out this another standard for Dolby Digital and I am wondering does it play properly on the PS3 (or do i just need to re-encode the audio)? Edit: I tried using a VOB container as well for #1 and I got the audio to work properly, but not the video (nothing's showing up). Unlike with the AVI where I couldn't see or hear anything. |

| I was also trying to convert .mkv to ps3 and google pointed me here and there is no reply so let me leave one.
I have a .mkv file that I wanted to play on the ps3 without recoding. I had a quick look at Mac apps and could not find anything that didn't involve recoding with of course the huge time and loss of quality that entails. So I ended up going to the "Dark Side" and I tried mkv2vob. It worked perfectly. It took a 1Gb h264 720p with AC3 5.1 and in less than 2 minutes it produced a VOB that plays perfectly on the ps3 and it looks (and sounds) stunning. Although QT will play the .mkv I dont seem to have anything that will play this VOB on the mac. LOL. Did you resolve your issues? |
