Playing MOD on Mac?
chronic777 posted 2008 Aug 26 05:53
I have been given MOD files (Mpeg2 from camcorder) & i need to play them on my mac?

I have tried renaming files, downloading VLC, Mpegstreamclip, WMP, & none of it works.

On my PC at home they play in WMP fine & open in Vegas (for editing) fine aswell, there must be a simple way to play these on mac without opening in Vegas & resaving as MP4?

Thanks in advance for any help...

From filext.com:

JVC .MOD file format
:

Extension: MOD
JVC Everio Digital Video File
Specific Notes:
JVC stores the video in files with a .MOD extension which are standard MPEG-2 VOB files with Dolby Digital sound. Third-party editing applications should be able to edit them.

At present time what can translate these on a mac?
answer: Use either JVC's proprietary software included on CD
with the camera, or use Drop DV, $39 US.

Apple's MPEG2 component ($20 IIRC) plus MPEG Streamclip (free). Convert to anything else through that app, if desired.

I'm not sure that this soft can do the job (because of the camcorder field order , not-compatible with dv field order)
Mpegstreamclip will do it correctly

bye
