Player incompatible with the region marking of disc

wardce posted 2004 Apr 09 01:12
Hi.

I have a Panasonic SC-HT700 regionfree player (comes like this from factory) it plays all the region 1 and 4 dvd's I own, except two region 1 dvds from Paramount Pictures, the message that appears is:

"This player is incompatible with the region marking of this disc"

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks.

try creating a backup through dvdshrink and make the backup region free see if that works

Not sure of the actual "term" used....but some DVD's will not play in a "Region Free" player. You will need to set your DVD Player to Region 1 to play the original if you cannot burn a backup.

Mabey the disc is RCE Protected. I believe these ones are not supposed to work on region free players.

I have a Denon 2200 that was made region free by Denon, a Samsung and XMS150 that I made region free with the remote hack and all play the RCE protecten discs. A friend of mine has a region free player that wont play RCE protected discs.

So my guess is that it depends on how the player works around the region control and wheather the RCE protection can catch it in the act.

Not sure if this is an accurate description but its just what I have found.

:)

Thanks for your responses.

I talked to Panasonic, and they told me that probably the DVD Player was not coded properly to region free, so they told me to take the player to them. I'm going to take it this monday, and see what happens.
