| Hello folks and Merry Christmas.
Was wondering if I could pick yer brains n experience for a second. What would any of you recommend for a affordable DVD home player that will automatically convert PAL to NTSC (and vice versa if needed) internally? Thanks in advance. cappy |

| It's not a true 100% conversion, but it'll play PAL on an NTSC tv set.
Cyberhome players do well at this. |

| The Philips DVP-642 can do this but you need to "hack it" to make it region free.
It is probably the best of the "cheap" DVD players that can currently do PAL to NTSC or vice-versa. Plus you can easily "hack it" yourself. This unit generlly costs about $70 USD If you want something with "higher" quality then get a JVC but you cannot really modify them yourself to be region free so you will have to buy one that is pre-modded to be region free. Many websites sell such units but one that is both reliable and cheap is 220-electronics The cheapest JVC is $129 USD - John "FulciLives" Coleman |

| Thank you. I will look into the JVC model. Seems painless.

| What gives better results in PAL-to-NTSC, a modded JVC player, or a by good software?
Thanks! |
