Novartis PDX-1041N - MT1389QE |

| Hello all,
I've acquired a Novartis PDX-1041N portable DVD Player which has a MT1389QE chip. Novartis is a medical company from what I've gathered that uses these players in the field. I assume these players are made by some one else. But after disassembley I can't find any clues as to who the original manufacturer is. They will only play Novartis branded DVD's. So obviously, I'm trying to find a way around this so I can play commercial and user made DVD's. From my searches, the only work around that I've found is that you can play user created DVD's if you create the DVD with the same voulme name as the Novartis disks. So my questions are as follows: 1: Would I be correct in assuming that the volume name lock is encoded on the chip? If so, I would assume a firmware upgrade would clear this? 2: What are the chances that the lock can be changed via remote control codes instead? And if so, how would I go about finding these codes? 3: Am I totally missing the boat and there is a much simplier solution? :) Thanks! |

| I recently acquired the same player, but I didn't get the disc with it. As I have been unable to find a workaround either, what's the volume name on the DVD ? |

| You can get the Novartis player to work as follows:
1)open the cover to the area where you put in the Novartis disk. 2)tape down the small pin (at the top) that shuts off the dvd player when the cover is opened. 3)start the dvd playing the Novartis disk - the actual presentation 4)open the cover again - the disk should continue spinning 5)switch the Novartis disk with the disk you want to see 6)close the cover - you might have to fiddle with the top buttons to have the disk play all the way through |
