Not playing Xvid on Philips DVP-630/42

mach posted 2005 Jan 09 18:02
Is it possible to play Xvid on Philips dvp-630/42? I have tried it but it says: codec, not supported (QPEL).
Is there anyway to hack it so it plays this format?

XviD is supported, but QPel and GMC must not be enabled in the encode.

you must recode the avi file with divx again with no qpel support

use prgram virtualdub

Thanks for the help. As I am quite a newbie I really appreciate more help to solve this.
Is there a help guide on this site for how to use virtualdub to do this conversion?
I tried to convert it to Divx by only choosing the Video Compression to Divx 5.2.1 codec, and now there is problem with the audio. The audio is not constantly streaming, and it doesn't fit with the picture, some seconds slower than it should be.
Thanks in advance for any comments on how to improve this problem. [/b]

You can keep XviD, just don't use QPel.

How can I avoide Qpel?

cosma posted 2005 Jan 13 07:04
in video section use "fast recompress" edit compression and use divx,
audio try just "direct stream copy" if there will be a audio shift, you have to recompress the audio also, use a audio codec with high frequency at least 48000Hz unless the audio will be blurred

then save avi as.... that is it

Thanks Cosma for the tip, but I have a porblem when I open the file in virtualdub. Under audio, compression and some other fratures are not active. How can I compress the audio in this condition?

change the option from "direct stream copy" to "full recompress" and the other options get unlocked
