Not a re-badge, Need a fast dedicated reader/ripper

Hi!

Can someone please provide a list of DVD-ROM Drives that are not re-badges and are currently available. I had a Toshiba 1612 DVD-ROM which I personally think is one of the best reader/ripper I have ever come across. It almost instantly recognised any media I threw at it. Unfortunately, I need a replacement.

Basically, I'm looking a fast ripper/reader dedicated DVD-ROM. I would get a Toshiba but as far as i know Toshiba does'nt make DVD-ROMs anymore. A couple of posts here mention that LG ones are not good rippers. Dedicated DVD-ROMS seem to be scarce nowadays.

I'm situated in UK.

Thanks!

There really is no use for DVD-ROM's anymore because the price of DVD burners have dropped dramatically. You can buy a DVD burner for under $30.00 now. PIONEER 115, 116 & SATA 215 & 216 are good readers with no riplocks. I know the PIONEER USA website is offering those drives for $34.99 with ONE CENT shipping. Check their UK website.

I can vouch for the 115 being a good reader. I don't know if it's as good as the Toshiba I had, the Toshiba died awhile back thus the 115 to replace it, but I tried a pretty trashed disc in the Pioneer 111 I have and it choked on it, the 115 struggled some with it but in the end it read the entire disc.
