Multiplex SD Mpeg with ac3 audio
hartless posted 2008 Sep 03 06:16
Hi,

Could anyone tell me how to multiplex SD Mpeg video with ac3 audio. I can record SD mpeg video off satellite TV (with multiplexed 2ch stereo, I can use tmpgenc for example to split.) The ac3 audio is recorded separately, I have been looking for software or a way of Multiplex SD Mpeg with ac3 audio, I have tried tmpgenc DVD author but this tells me it is (ac3) NOT DVD compliant! All I want is to be able to multiplex so as to watch an Mpeg on PC perhaps conver to DVD later! Any help much appreciated in advance.

Try
imagompeg-muxer
tsmuxer

But if tda complains about the ac3 audio something might be wrong. Can you post details of the ac3 audio? Identify using mediainfo.

MPEGVCR (NOT freeware) will also let you do this.

Thanks have tried the 1st 2 suggestions from the 1st reply and both software refuse to recognize the ac3 stream any more help would be appreciated.

As Baldrick already pointed out, this suggests that there might be something wrong with your AC3 file, perhaps corruption or a recording error

You can also try muxman, but it will likely give you the same problem. Look at the mediainfo information, and, perhaps try running your audio through AC3fix

If all you want to do is watch, MPC can playback separated elementary streams in the same folder (e.g. file.mpv, file.ac3), provided your file is not corrupted

Your AC3 file is definitely corrupted. I have muxed so many MPEG-2 program streams with AC3 audio files that I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have done this. It will definitely work with MPEGVCR if your AC3 audio is not corrupted.

My guess is that this is actually recorded off a stream from SPDIF and so is in essence a AC3-WAV file (aka with padding).

If this is the case, you would need to remove the padding by running through BeSweet to create a standard AC3 file.

Hopefully, that's all it is, corruptionwise.

Thanks for all replies. Have managed to take recorded ac3 and re-encode with DAudioK or BeLight to anew ac3 file then multiplexed using both software from 1st reply OK (imagompeg-muxer ran better) now able to watch mpegs OK. As I have been able to re-encode to new ac3 then this would suggest that the recordings are not corrupted but there is something wrong in possibly the header as DAudioK or BeLight seem to recognize the recorded ac3 OK. ANy way thanks again for all your help, much appreciated

Just a quick note to the reply from Cornucopia the recordings are direct off air through a WInTV Nexus-s aka Technisat SkyStar 1
