Multi-format + multi-region

ilank9 posted 2009 Oct 05 14:45
Hi everyone! I'm new here and really desperate for advise! :o
I need to find DVD player with multi-format and regions. So far I found either one or another. I really like all the features in Pioneer 420v-k (specially with playing DivX recorded on USB device), but it doesn't play PAL and other regions. Does anyone know DVD Player with similar characteristics? multi-format and multi-regions ARE important. :)

I believe Oppo players are some of the very few brands that actually advertise that their players are region free AND can convert between NTSC and PAL.

Older Philips players do as well.

Welcome to the forums. I would strongly suggest that you define what "multi-format" means to you. If it means "Plays standard definition Xvid/Divx" then that is not hard to satisfy. If it means something else like "plays high definition MKV files" then there might not be anything that meets your needs.

HK Flix has a list of DVD players that they sell that are guaranteed to be region free. You can see it here:

Most DVD players sold in North America can't be made region free. Even Philips, who just a few years ago almost didn't make a player anywhere in the world that couldn't be made region free, has caved in to Hollywood and fewer of their models can now be made region free.
