.MTS to .avi conversion (video seems fast)
puncho posted 2008 Aug 27 08:37
I open up the .mts file and the video seems blocky and a tad slow while playing. I tried converting it using VoltaicHD and it fixed that. However, the video playback is too fast now.

I tried using this method as well: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic347139.html and it didn't fix the blocky video nor the video playback.

I'm not sure if it's my computer specs: 1.8 core duo, 1 gig ram. Would I not have enough juice to convert it properly? Thanks!

What is your goal with the video? Just make an avi for computer playback or make an avi for editing?

Upload a short clip of the .MTS file on http://www.mediafire.com

What model of Camcorder ? I'm betting you have one which isn't compatible with the standard conversion utilities.

Yeah, just for playback. I may edit it, as in joining them together, deleting parts.

It's a Panasonic HDC-SD5 AVCHD 3CCD Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilization.

Have you tried play the video using vlc?
After you used voltaichd have you tried reconvert it again to for example avi xvid or mp4 h264?

Apologize if this is the wrong place to ask about this, but I am trying to repair an .MST file that was recovered from the drive in a Sony HDR-SR5 after someone unplugged the camcorder without disconnecting it via the software first. The video no longer shows up on the camera, but with a data recovery program I was able to track down the file. Whenever I try to open it with any kind of conversion utility I get an error of some sort or the other, the most frequent is "missing sync byte."

Does anyone know of a utility or a way to mend files that may have been corrupted in this way?

Any help is much appreciated.

You should start your own thread as this does not apply to this thread what-so-ever.
