| i tried to play these movie files(over 7 gigas....) in my pc............but it plays very slow........when i download files half size....they play ok..........i tried so far almost every player avaliable....but the big files have these gaps,the video is very slow,the audio have no problem...........my pc is a pentium 4,3gigas cpu,4gigas ram,and a nvidia 8600 GTS graphics card.......................i checked the cpu used while playing........and its about in 60%...............and almost nothing is running in the background,except for the antivirus (AVG).i have download every codec needed for..............i would appreciate some help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ah..the files are these matroska files......(blue ray format movies.....) | ||

Buy the originals or make backups from your OWN discs... | ||

| Try using VLC to play it and see if it's better. Unless you have a dual core or better CPU, MKV playback of high definition video will be a big problem. If you have a single core CPU, you don't have enough CPU power to play 1080p MKV files. 720p might play OK though. Also, if your PC monitor does not go up to resolution 1920x1080 or higher, whatever software player you have may be trying to resize any 1080p video and that will not help. | ||

| my monitor has no problems..........well i was thinking yeah it maybe better to upgrade my cpu.........besides i have no problems playing files at 720p.........the 1080p are the trouble...any way thanks for the advise...... | ||

I am surprised that nobody has added the CCCP filter pack to the TOOLS on this forum??? It's a great package that installs Media Player Classic, ffdshow, Haali's Media Splitter and other items. I usually don't recommend installing codec/filter packs but this one is the exception. The full title is the Combined Community Codec Pack. Actually, it's more like a filter pack than a codec pack but filter doesn't begin with C and we wanted a good acronym. The name is also a pun on the Russian name which is transliterated into the Latin alphabet as "Soyuz Sovietskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik", or "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", abbreviated as "CCCP" or "USSR". Blame Lenin and the Commies. Jokes aside, the CCCP was created to replace the filter packs provided by several anime fansub groups into a single reliable pack capable of decoding practically any group's files - without breaking compatibility for other formats.
