Looking for Proline 1040 owners

JasperG posted 2003 Aug 20 05:42
I'm looking for owners of a Proline 1040 DVD Player. Are you able to play DVD+R and/or DVD-R? If so, could you please tell me which brand you use and how you burn them?? I'm having "NO DISC" problems when trying DVD+R discs, but according to the reviews it must be possible..

Please help!!!
Many thanks

i have a Grundig gdv 250 dvd player which is identical to the proline 1040 player, both are not able to play dvd-R's or dvd+r's because of the hardware. There is nothing that can be done unless you take it to a shop and get the machine chipped as far as i know there is no firmware fix for this including the macrovision. I had to change dvd player so that i could watch my DVD-R movies.
Check out the dvd hacks page you might get more info there on you proline dvd player

Hey, thanx for the reply.
Just wondered how some people manage to get it to work then - according to the reviews of the proline 1040 on this site people can get it to work with all disc types. Very confusing the whole thing.
I have now managed to get a DVD+RW to work and am going to try with a DVD-R. If some people can get it to work then it must surely be possible....

I have just got a set of DVD-R from dabs.com - the cheapest ones available - and they seem to play fine, so you might want to try them. Dont know what is wrong with the DVD+Rs i have...
