    Hi all,

I'm half-way through a HD upgrade on a 540HX, and are having some problems with the service remote. Trying to use a Harmony 785, these are now configured using a standalone application, meaning that I cannot see a list of remote profiles that are available to load. I have managed to load a GGF1381 profile from DVD Recorders -> Pioneer, but the STOP button is not working (when it is required to erase the ID number on the device after swapping the HD). Has anyone come across this problem, or have a recommendation where to look? Is there any app that coupled to an IR receiver can decode the raw commands coming from the remote, to make sure it's not sending garbage?

    Cheers,

    Mike

While the Logitech software does support most remotes, it doesn't always properly map all of the buttons. The fix is to manually set up those buttons or learn the commands from an existing remote. All of the setup information is covered in the Logitech software or contact them directly for assistance.

Thanks for your suggestion - I have found that for some reason, the original CCF from remotecentral.com and the learnt IR code from the Harmony differ.

If I load the original CCF into Tonto, I see this for the Stop key:

    0000 0067 0000 0022 0156 00ac 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 05f7

(I don't know why, but all keys I have looked at show the same pattern).

What I then did was to get the PocketPC (using PDAwin's TV Remote) to learn the Stop key from the Harmony, and this is what it stored in the CCF after learning:

    0000 006d 0065 0001 0154 00ac 0014 0014 0014 0017 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0017 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0017 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 05cf 0154 00ac 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 05cf 0154 00ac 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0017 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0017 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0017 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0040 0014 0014 0014 0040 0014 0ed8

Clearly different. I have managed to get the HD changed using the PocketPC, as the Stop button (from the original CCF) works just fine, so it must be a problem in the Harmony or Logitech's database.

    Cheers,

    Mike
