| l have nero version 7. im trying to print a picture and titles on my disc using lightscribe. do i need a special mediaor will any disc work. |

| Yes, special media and a lightscribe driver, I believe. And unless they improved it, it also takes a fair amount of time. :( |

| Yes You need a special media cd or dvd ligtscribe and of course the writer should also be lightscibe

| If you're still reading, I very strongly recommend only using Verbatim lightscribe discs. Verbatim media is very high quality and it and Taiyo Yuden are generally the best quality media you can get. Do note that you really need to burn lightscribe at the "best" setting for the best results, but it will take 20-30 minutes to burn the label, depending on how complex it is. You should be sure to visit http://www.lightscribe.com for the latest updates. There is a contrast utility that is now bundled in the LSS package that you definitely will want to install. |

| Lightscribe print quality can also depend on the burner you're using. The project I was trying to burn was mostly a black background so the quality differences could be most noticed.
I was using an LG model GH22 burner and the lightscribe results were lousy, the black colors were getting streaked with uneven coverage (this was still the case with multiple burns on the same disc)...note I was using the "BEST" contrast setting under NERO 7, as well as the "ENHANCED" contrast setting under the separate lightscribe control panel. My media was memorex v1.2. The burn time was 20 minutes and some odd seconds. I then purchased an HP model 1140i burner and, using the same settings and the same media (and from the same spindle), the results were great. The burn time was 26 minutes and some odd seconds. I then threw in an HP disc to see how it compared to the memorex...they were very similar, if I had to pick one I'd say the HP disc was slightly sharper and had slightly better contrast, probably because it has a slightly glossier finish. An interesting note on using the memorex COLORED lightscribed discs...the results were the best I've seen, the contrast/coverage was great...it took 32 minutes and some odd seconds to burn but it was worth it. |

| Yeah, get Verbatim lightscribe DVDs, get the Lightscribe utility, and set to maximum contrast. Verbatims are first-class media, of course, and they label adequately well.
I usually do a plain text label, using the Lightscribe utility. It does just fine, so why bother with other programs? JMO. Currently have a Samsung and an LG, they both do a good job. Good luck. :wink: |

| To get darker results, once the disc ejects, push the tray/disc back in and burn the same image again. I typically burn the lightscribe image 3 times on the same disc, with my Lite-On lightscribe burner using SureThing CD Labeler 4 SE software set to "Best" quality on Verbatim discs. Two burns are better (darker) than one and three burns is even darker. I've never tried 4 burns. The result is excellent if you have the time to burn the lightscribe image multiple times.
Important: Don't restart the computer between burns or the image alignment will be rotated and not aligned with the previous burn. I also don't close and restart the software either between burns, though I don't know if this would reset the alignment. creakndale |
