| You can do a transfer rate test & burst rate test using NERO CD/DVD SPEED. Post the results here and we can tell you if they are normal or if it indicates your drive is dying.
Here's the download for NERO CD/DVD SPEED. Just unzip it to your desktop. http://www.cdspeed2000.com/download.html#nerocdspeed DVD burners are so damn cheap these days and you can also get free shipping from online retailers like Newegg.com. These are my choices in that order if I wanted a new IDE DVD Burner. PIONEER 116D, $30.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827129023 LG GH22NP20 dvd burner, $24.99 with free 3 business day shipping http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136144 SAMSUNG SH-S202J, $ 22.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151161 |
