Is there anyway to test a DVD Burner

Any programs out there to test if a Dvd burner is failing. I have a 4 year old liteon burner thats killing DVD+RW disks. Thanks for any help.

You can do a transfer rate test & burst rate test using NERO CD/DVD SPEED. Post the results here and we can tell you if they are normal or if it indicates your drive is dying.

Here's the download for NERO CD/DVD SPEED. Just unzip it to your desktop.

DVD burners are so damn cheap these days and you can also get free shipping from online retailers like Newegg.com.
These are my choices in that order if I wanted a new IDE DVD Burner.

PIONEER 116D, $30.99

LG GH22NP20 dvd burner, $24.99 with free 3 business day shipping

SAMSUNG SH-S202J, $ 22.99

Thanks I'll do just that. Thanks for the program link and newegg links. The Pioneer looks pretty good.

Hello,
If I may join, I find the following results with my NEC ND 4570A firmware 1.03
What do you make of it?.
