Introduction and a dvd - MKV question

Shortbus64 posted 2009 Jun 22 15:20
First, I'm excited to have found this place... its outstanding.

Well, I am a huge anime fan... but I am getting tired of watching them on my computer when I have a 47" LG.

Is there a DVD player ( low budget) that will recognize and play .mkv or .ogg files either from a DVDR or from a USB/jumpdrive combo.... my other option is to run a cable from the back of my desktop over to my TV ( about 35 feet)

I love all the options we have thse days with regaurds to video.. but it can get confusing

Thaks in advance for any help...

How low is "low budget"?

The WD TV is an excellent device that plays those and much more.

I'm not trying to be critical of Supreme2k, but abbreviations might not be the best choice for new members. The "WD TV" is perhaps better known as the Western Digital HDTV media player. It plays from USB flash and disk drives. A firmware hack is available that allows it to play from USB DVD drives. Anyway, we have a big thread on it here:

It sells for about $100 and in my opinion is worth every penny.
