Installation Failure on Mac 10.6 ffmpegX 0.0.9y

I think the image speaks for itself

Basically, I can't install the binaries and this is the error I am getting:

For some reason it's wanting to download and run rosetta to get something called gnutar to run. I have yet to install rosetta and do this yet. I feel like I shouldn't have to do this and that something else is going wrong.

Or am I supposed to be downloading Rosetta for this work?

Rosetta used to be part of a default OS X install on Intel Macs. Until Mac OS 10.6 that is, then it became optional. Mac OS X 10.5.x or earlier wouldn't show this error.
You'll need Rosetta to run pieces of program code that were written for PowerPC though, which ffmpegX apparently relies on.

Shame on Apple if they really didn't recompile gnutar for Intel.

Mac OS X Hints: 10.6: Disable and enable Rosetta via Terminal
