Including an intro video(motion menu) when authoring a dvd using Dvdlab Pro

Here is another feature you can create in your dvd's while authoring them. I will show how to import an intro video (or what I call an intro-sig) that contains sound that will play upon insertion of your dvd (without pushing any buttons). I will use Dvdlab Pro in my illustration, although you may use another authoring program. for my example of the full authoring process, click here:http://www.technogrammaton.org/forum/index.php?topic=60.0
This will not be illustrated here:Prior to importing the intro-video/sig into Dvdlab pro, I first, edited images and saved them out as .jpg image frames in Paint Shop Pro, then, imported the frames into Animation Shop 3 to create the animation then saved the frames out as one .avi clip, I then created an audio track in Adobe Audition (an audio editor- you may use one of your choice) to match the duration of the .avi clip, then I imported the audio stream into this clip to see how it played. Then converted my .avi intro-sig to an elementary Mpeg 2 video file , and then imported them (intro video and intro audio) into Dvdlab Pro , ALONG WITH my main movie and its audio stream (4 files total). With that said let's go. ;D

Open DLP (DvdLab pro) and choose normal, set your region (target system) and click OK.

on the lower left, click the yellow folder to import your files, elementary videos and audio streams, (which should be your main movie and audio, AND your intro sig and its audio)

After your files have been imported into your assets bin it will look like this, then drag and drop your main movie and audio streams on the appropriate sections.

After dragging and dropping your above files it will look like this, then click the icon (red arrow on the lower right, over preview screen) to auto create chapters for your movie. This enables you to skip through your movie to different areas via chapters.

Now drag and drop your intro-sig video clip onto the Menu 1 area.

your intro video will appear on the motion section. We are actually creating a motion menu.
Now drag and drop the audio for it in the appropriate area.

It will then look like this.

In the Projects bin at the left, click "connections", click the crosshair icon (red arrow)

Draw from the right side of Menu 1 (root) to Movie 1

It will then appear linked with lines like this, It means "first play menu 1, which is the intro video and sound (motion menu) then proceed to play movie 1" (main movie) After all is linked correctly, click the "Compile DVD" icon (red arrow) to start the process.

If and when the errors and warnings notification comes up, in this case, its letting you know your dvd has no buttons, thats ok here, we mean for it to auto play upon insertion of the dvd, so worry not.

After its done you can go to your DvdlabVolume folder and burn the VIDEO_TS folder within to DVD with an external burning app or allow Dvdlab to use its burner. Your dvd will play your intro-video/sig, then proceed to play your main movie, all without clicking any buttons.

Here's a sample of how your dvd would play using an intro-video with your main movie.
