| Since my HD video library grown and the HD content managing became my primary search subject, I've been trying to find a networked media player that is capable of streaming HD files (full 1080p) from my PC. After googling and browsing many forums I was not able to find the good answer. And finally on one of the European forums I've found these:

The price is unfortunately also impressive, but I wanted to share my findings with anyone who has been looking for more than off the shelf blu-ray player. I wonder if anyone of you have one of these or had a chance to take a closer look? :shock: |

| The Sony PS3 is a great choice but no MKV support. You can easily mux most MKV files to M2TS files that work with the PS3 (a process that requires no re-encoding nor any transcoding) but you can forget about subtitles. Subtitle support is poor. However you can mux most MKV files to a Blu-Ray disc structure and burn to a DVD5 or DVD9 if it will fit ... or to a BD blank if you have a BD burner. Then you get subtitle support!
If subtitles are important and/or you need a bit more flexibility then the best is probably the Popcorn Hour A-110 which has no disc based player capabilities but can play just about any HD video / audio file and it has networking built-in OR you can get the Western Digital Media Player which again has no disc based player capabilities and lacks even networking but it is cheap and will accept USB 2.0 hard drives (even with NTFS formating). Some have even used it successfully with USB thumb drives.
