| it seems to be really picky about the discs it can or can't read/write. Took advantage of some cheap Kodak branded discs which work OK on the PC, laptop, the cheapo Tesco dvd recorder in the bedroom, but not the bloody expensive Sony in the front room!!
There's probably no answer to a post like this but doesn't it make your blood boil?!? Thanks for listening. |

| Most Sony players are picky about the media they can read. Typical Sony. |

| Actually it has nothing to do with your DVD recorder itself but the optical drive inside it - Most of the time they use their initial firmware, which is outdated and unlike PCs where you can update it, it will not work well with many of the new discs. This may happen especially on high speed media like 16x or faster. Best thing to do is use eraseable media and once burnt and finalized transfer it on your computer. That's what I do.
So far this is media I've used with the Sony without any issues. * Sony DVD-RW 2x * Verbatim DVD-RW 4x highspeed * Maxell DVD+R 4x * Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 8x * Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 16x Stick to verbatims and taiyo yudens - most recorders love those. |
