| I got a RealMedia VBR movie downloaded from the website but neither play it with the PowerDVD in a computer nor do it in a DVD player. Does anyone know how to play the RealMedia VBR in a computer and whether it is possible to convert the RealMedia VBR into the DVD format? |

| Real Alternative is what I'd try. |

| Drag 'n' drop the RMVB into ConvertXtoDVD version 3 and it'll spit out a nice DVD. |

| Free; AviSynth plus HcEnc. Then author with the software of your choice. |

| I use VLC media player, just add these files in the VLC media player plugin folder. {I added from Mplayer's extra codec packs} The codecs work. I've already tried it on my computer.

| You may have already discovered this, but highly compressed, proprietary formats like Real VBR are are difficult to convert. :( ConvertX does a fair job and and some other similar converters may work. I use VirtualDub Mod and AviSynth to open the Real VBR files using a small AVS script. Then I convert to whatever AVI type format I want. You could also probably frameserve the output directly to a MPEG encoder if that's your final output. That's likely what ConvertX and other converters will do. Using AviSynth and VD gives you a lot more control of the final product. I find this the best way to achive the best quality from those type of files.
