| Hi,
i assume this question was asked before, but i didn't find an answer. I bought a Media-Harddrive to connect with my TV with 500GB which plays MPEG 1 (AVI, APG), MPEG 2 (AVI, VOB), MPEG 4 (DivX, VOD), ISO, DivX Home Theatre, Xvid. I want to archivate my DVDs on the Harddrive. Can you tell me, whicht Format i should prefer ? I have a PAL-Televison and it should be a maximum of compression but still have a good Picturequality. Should i resize it to 800x600 or - if i by a Plasma-TV in the Future - let it as it is ? Thanks in advance for your answer. |

| I would convert to avi xvid using autogk or fairuse wizard. Use 640x480(4:3)/640x360(16:9) or lower resolution. |

| Is archivating a combination of archiving and activating? No point in resizing LARGER than original. I would keep them at their original resolution.. meaning no downsizing or upsizing. You WILL not get a Plasma Tv in the future, they are dying out, to be replaced by LED and (nicer) OLED. Any Tv will have upscaling built in. Rule-of thumb..use 500mb per 30mins and no more than 2.0gb unless its the 4 hour directors cut of "Lawrence of Arabia".
Keeping DTS sound is also very spacehungry. |
