help with VHS to computer

Dash1 posted 2009 Oct 14 15:38
Have a new computer with XP.
got from a friend an old pinnacle BlueBox to connect to VCR
and my new I7 in order to save to my computer my old family tapes.

The computer found and set the driver but the luck stoped here.
My vcr is mono so I tried to connect to the box with RCA jack
for video and one for audio.but could not capture. Help please

Most likely something with your wires?
You need 3-wires RCA cable to have stereo sound (plugs white and red are audio's L and R channels, yellow is video feed).
If you used S-VHS cable for video, you still need both audio cables for stereo.

Also it may sound stupid, but make sure in the VCR's menu you have audio set to "stereo" and "hi-fi" (although I think this is always default setting on all VCRs, but you never know - someone could've played with remote...)
