| What's up,
I need some help converting a video file with multiple audio tracks, to a new file using only one of the forementioned tracks. I recently downloaded several episodes of a TV show. The video files are in .mkv format; I use MPC to view them. In each video, or episode, there are three distinct audio tracks (or layers) available to choose from. 1. English vocals/Japanese music 2. Japanese vocals/Japanese music. 3. English vocals/American music. Now, of the 3 audio tracks available, I only need the third one; Yet it is not the default track, so when I open up AVS and convert the episodes (.mkv to .mp4), then play the converted file I discover that the audio is... surprise! The .mkv default audio track. I obviously knew this would happen. What I didn't know was that it would be so difficult to convert a video that has multi-layered audio into a video with specified-layer audio. AVS Converter has few advanced features. Xillisoft Video Converter has more, but I don't have enough experience with expert features. To break it down, I basically "need to convert a .mkv file (with three seperate audio layers) to a new video file (with only one of the three original audio layers). Is there a simple solution to this problem? Is there an extraction technique? Or is it possible to remove specific audio layers from a video file, leaving only the needed audio track behind? Forgive me for the length of my post, I am just eager to find a solution. I look forward to your response. |

| you can use a program called mkvextract to break down your mkv file into a video and 3 seperate audio files then you can make a new mkv using megui including only the video and the audio file you want. |

| Don't use mkvextract, or you might get sync issues
I would use mkvmerge, checkmark streams you want to keep, uncheckmark streams you don't want, and make a "new" mkv |
