| I was wondering if the problem where the resulting encoded dvd file was larger than expected has been fixed since a few versions back? I haven't used this software in a while because of having to use dvd shrink to reduce the filesize everytime I encoded a dvd with this software. | ||

| It is better at hitting target size but problems can still pop up from time to time. The issue is really with the source files, not S2D. I have tried other encoders (CCE, etc.) on files that result over/undersize with S2D and the probelem exists across platform. | ||

I am running a Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz and regularly get 85fps or above. I would think you should be getting more speed from your system. | ||

| Yeah I get ~150fps on avidemux. It doesn't matter anyway, svcd2dvd has just given me a 4.7GB file again. Looks like I'll have to give up with svcd2dvd, I would wait for the program to be fixed but I think by the time that ever happens Blu-ray will have replaced dvd anyway... | ||

| As I said, I don't really see the filesize problem as an issue only for S2D. If I get it on a high end encoder like CCE, then it's got to be a source problem.
Multi core support is, I believe, slated for a near future release. | ||

Sounds like something is wrong there. Perhaps you don't have a multi-threaded avi or xvid codec installed? When I run dual copies of QuEnc the total fps is typically around 130 and my SVCD2DVD throughput is usually over 70. Sounds like your installation may be relying on DirectShow instead of a native codec. I think AviDemux uses its own multi-threaded libraries which is why you still get high speed with it. In any case, there are faster avi to dvd converters out there but SVCD2DVD is still good to have for its original purpose... making episodic dvds from mpg sources without reencoding the video. :) |
