| So I have an LG RH188H recorder and I have the feeling it's giving up the ghost pretty soon, it's acting wonky, not reading DVDs and such. I have a film that I recorded from VHS on the drive and I want to save that. I have burned it on to DVD but the compression is so bad that it is almost unwatchable. I recorded the film in the highest quality and even though the manual says it supports DVD-DL it clearly does not as I've tried a few times.
Is there any way possible to get the movie file of the internal HD to my computer? I have a mac and a PC so if there are any programs out there that could help then that would be greatly appreciated. |

| Most likely not.
After you get your new recorder, connect the video output of the old unit to the input of the new recorder. Then simply play and record. |
