Try media player classic home cinema to play the file.

Hi Johns,

Tried googling but I still can't find a player to play it..

I'm not meaning audio softwares though

Windows media player 11 plays it even though it doesnt recognise that file extension...but the song came out distorted

Are you expecting this file to be audio or music? The reason I am asking is that G.726 is an ancient audio codec used for voice (talking - NOT music) transmission over telephone lines. I don't know of anything that will play it off the top of my head. When people supposedly use exotic codecs on files it is often used to hide the fact that the file is infected with a virus. So I would definitely suggest that you scan your PC with some anti-virus software. If this file was on the internet and you downloaded it, I am highly skeptical about it. Nobody that really wants you to be able to play it would use such an old and (now) little known codec. G.726 isn't capable of CD quality sound by the way, so it will be marginally OK for voice but bad for anything music related.
