I'm trying to rip a DVD using DVD Decrypter. I've used DVD Decrypter for all my ripping needs without any problems in the past. This disc that I'm trying to rip plays fine on my standalone DVD player, but when I try to play it on my computer it has what I would call "a repeating slight stutter"...Kind of like rolling a ball that is oblong. Plays normally stalls for a split second, then continues playing normally, then stalls for a split second, etc. etc. (Happening at the frequency of... I'd say every 3/4 of a second or so.) When I rip it, the same repeating pattern/cycle continues, but instead of a stutter, it looks like a dropped frame...or a flicker every 3/4 of a second. DVD Decrypter says that there is no copy protection on the disc. I thought the disc might be defective and it was a manufacturing problem, but like I said, it plays normally on a standalone DVD player. Any help would be appreciated.

DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated in years and is unlikely to work on many newer DVDs. Try DVDFAB HD Decrypter. And welcome to our forums. :)

Thanks, but DVDFAB HD Decrypter ripped the same way that DVD Decrypter did. Any other suggestions?

It sounds to me like your player software is screwing up. There's probably an incompatability between your MPG splitter and MPEG decoder. What player are you using?

Could this be possible even if this is the first out of more than 25 dvds that I've successfully ripped using DVD Decrypter?

Yes, it's possible this DVD uses an unusual pulldown pattern or something else unusual. Try using VLC to play it. VLC doesn't rely on other installed components to play video files.

Actually that is when the flicker is most noticable. On Windows Media Player, there is no flicker, but in place of the flicker there is a little area of distortion in the bottom right corner of the picture (kind of like, I guess digital artifacting?) Not sure if that's the correct term. But the distortion appears and disappears at the same frequency that the picture flickers when viewing on VLC. What would I have to do to fix probable incompatability between my MPG splitter and MPEG decoder you mentioned?

By the way, I forgot to mention...sorry for forgetting, problably important...the firts VOB file plays fine. VTS_02_1.VOB plays fine. VTS_02_2.VOB plays fine about halfway through the file, then the flickering starts. Flickering continues at same frequency throughout the remaining VOB files. Sorry for forgetting that.

You should post a small sample. Mpeg2Cut2 will let you trim out a bit without reencoding. Even if you don't post a sample it's worth an experiment to test a clip with Mpeg2Cut2. It will save the clip as MPG rather than VOB. Maybe there will be some difference in how it's played.
