| Hi!
I would like to know if I loose my regionfree-hack after I do a firmware-update?! (LG BD390) I just read, that I have to do the hack before a firmware update, otherwise it doesn't work. But what happen to the hack after the update, or is an update not possible anymore after a hack? :? Thanks for replys! Greets | ||||

| Yes, it is possible that a firmware update will stop a hack from working. I have no personal experience with your player but if you have read that you need to do the hack first and then the firmware update, I would follow that advice. | ||||

It was clear for me, that I would do the hack in the stated sequence. The advice came from the guy, who posted the link for the hack. I'm just wondering, if I can do any firmware update in the future. It's a fundamental question to my general understanding, regarding hacks & firmware updates. Greets | ||||

| Firmware updates can possibly break hacks. I would not advise you to apply any firmware updates after hacking the player. Most firmware updates aren't really necessary unless you have a very specific problem that you want to be fixed, but again, it is possible that if you apply any firmware updates in the future that they might break a hack. | ||||

| Just to let you know, received my BD390 yesterday (UK), set it up on my wireless network and it immediately displayed that an update was available. I selected yes and upgraded the player's firmware.
Then found this site and the hack to make it region-free, but was concerned it would not work since I had already updated to the latest firmware which on the BD370 seems to block the hack from working. I am pleased to report that the hack still worked fine on my BD390 even after the firmware upgrade and I now have a region-free player for DVDs. I have no idea if it will work for everyone else if they upgrade their BD390 firmware (maybe firmware updates for players in other countries/regions will block it?) but I hope other UK BD390 users have the same success with the hack I have had. Blacknight582, I used Roxio Creator DE 10.2 to burn my CD (Memorex CD-R 700 MB) - path to file on CD appears as follows: <Drive letter>:\RMTM0000\SCARLET\kpjc19_1.dvd. CD was burned using the following settings: closed, disc-at-once, ISO format. Note: I reset my BD390 back to factory defaults (due to a long list of operational 'features' which judging from other BD390 owner's posts on various forums appears to be firmware related) and had to re-apply the hack to make it region-free for DVDs again. From your post I assume you are trying to update a BD390 and not a BD370, as according to posts elsewhere on this forum the last BD370 firmware update blocked this hack from working on that model. Also, as I stated above I have no idea if the firmware LG releases is universal for all countries or country-specific, so I cannot comment on whether this update will work for all BD390s around the world, but I will keep 'em crossed for you all. Also note that, just as with the BD370, it is possible that future firmware update(s) for the BD390 (which are required to fix a long list of reported issues and hopefully add iPlayer support for us UK users) may block this hack from working - I for one certainly hope this doesn't happen!!!
