Ffmpegx missing codec components?

| I've just installed ffmpegx with the sole purpose of converting h264 video to Xvid. However, I get the following error message when processing:
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x68637061. Do I have to install Xvid separately? Where should it go, which folder?

| 0x68637061 is "apch", not "divx" or "xvid". Hex chart: http://www.ascii.cl/
I think you need Final Cut Studio: http://www.hv20.com/archive/index.php?t-8058.html

| I have FCP, and the source file is in Prores, so yeah, you're right. Thanks for that.
I'm guessing I can solve this by converting the original Prores file to some format compatible with ffmpegx. What would be a good choice for this? Uncompressed 8-bit? DV? Motion Jpeg?

| I don't know what choices you have but for best results you usually want to use an uncompressed or losslessly compressed YUV format. | ||

| With ffmpegX, you could try the XviD ffmpeg preset in combination with the 'Decode with QuickTime' option setting (to utilize FCP's ProRes codec). | ||

that didn't work. i get an .avi which is not video, but still frames that last for about 3 minutes each |
