Name of short film:
The Immortality of Man

Short blurb about the film

This video makes the claim that man has achieved immortality through the creation of one of the most mundane, everyday objects of all time.

Behind the scenes:

I like to highlight seemingly insignificant facets of everyday life, and shed a new light on them.

How this was done

I edited using Final Cut Pro HD. The stock footage was found on archive.org, and is completely fair use.

At first I thought it was going to be like Ricky's video in American Beauty but then it went in a different direction.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciated!

And just for the record, it's intentionally exaggerated/over-the-top, and supposed to be a bit spoofy... though the information is in fact legit.

I very much enjoyed this one as a "mockumentary," a creative balance of sarcasm and reality. Nice integration of stock footage and "real" footage, plus clever narration. Also it shows how things can be funny and tragic at the same time, which is not an easy thing to pull off; sure it's not exactly subtle, but it's not too over-the-top either. Kudos! :)
