DVD Players no longer work on tv?? Any ideas?

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post, but it's the closest that I could find relevance.

Anyhow, here's the deal... I have a standard CRT tv big one very heavy... but good picture still :) Phillips Magnavox and using it for years with different DVD players.

Just recently I decided I wanted to play my AVI files on my DVD player rather than converting to VOBs etc all the time, very lengthy process, so I burned my AVIs on one disk and watched them on a player I had purchased, but it was missing some features that I wanted, so I returned it. Then I bought another player, so I disconnected the one I was using (with the tv turned on... not sure if this matters or not) and when I connected the new one and turned it to the channel before ch.2 to broadcast the signal, all i see is black. I then hooked the original player back up and same thing, black screen. My tv works fine on all other channels but I can't seem to get the dvd players to work now.

Any ideas?

sounds like you've got your wires mixed up
before ch 2?

@ zoobie

Well, that's what I thought at one point but I've checked them and they seem to be in the proper jacks. I'll do a bit more checking tomorrow when I have time to actually move the tv and see what happens. I'll repost my findings.

@ zoobie ...

Ok, I got it worked out. I can't count how many times I've connected components using rca cables in my life. I don't recollect that I ever had this much of a problem before. I thought it was the setting on the tv, so I went through some troubleshooting and afterwards when connecting the cables I literally stared at the components to make sure I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, also making sure that they were fitted properly.

So, I can rest assured that posting here definitely helped fix the problem!! :D Thanks again for the very obvious suggestion which by all means I am very grateful for you taking the time!! Cheers.

@ Moderator/s problem solved, please close topic. Thanks!

I've done it myself...especially when there's a mess of cables involved :?
