| MakeMKV says it does not convert audio or video, just takes the streams as-is. You will get very big files though. | ||||||

| Nope, it doesn't convert. But it doesn't work with ALL blu-rays.
You can also use Clown_BD and ToNMT.

| Thanks for that info. What exactly does MakeMKV do? If it's not converting the video is it just pulling it off the disc into a .mkv?
I don't really care about the size. What simple to use software can take a single file from a blu-ray movie and convert it to mkv?

| It repackages the contents of the decrypted BD into a MKV container. | ||||||

... for the purpose of burning it onto DVD-R or having a copy on a HDD etc. You get exact same quality as it was on BD, nothing better or worse, the advantage is in the freedom of not being restricted and having ability to do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do with it It may seem like not much, but if you think of it it'll become apparent that IT IS SO MUCH! ;)

Except that taking a full BD disc and simply repackaging it into an MKV file will likely mean using 4- 5 single layer DVDs or 2 - 3 DL DVDs to hold the movie.

| Looks like you where right MakeMKV does not work on some blu-rays.
So how can i get blu-rays to mkv WITHOUT converting the video? Most of the how to's convert the video.

Yes if you use DVD-Rs. The point is the *freedom* of doing it, not where you may want to store or burn it. You can use SD cards or BD-Rs if you want :D BTW - I love your new "pigasus" avatar! |
