| i have used the soft for the first time.i found no controls in the soft as far as the video bitrate or audio bitrate is concerned. under the menu>dvd settings> only video standard,dvd resolution,and aspect ratio can be fixed. under the menu audio only audio format and audio level normalisation is avalable. i have converted a RMVB file to vobusing this soft///then the product is showing these particulars in mediainfo_
video---1176 kpbs(9608 kpbs),352*576,4/3,25 fps,mpeg-2. audio---192 kpbs-48 Khz-2 ch ac3/ the video bitrate, i want it to be constant. can i get the option to fix it anywhere in the soft? by the by, which soft plays the rmvb files?thanks | ||||

| rmvb should play in a realplayer from real networks, possibly vlc or mpc also.
convertx is a on click wonder. it works nicely if you don't ask too much of it. it's not designed to be user adjustable except in the most basic ways. not putting it down, as i find that it does a decent job most of the time, even with some pretty weird source files. | ||||

| mplayer (smplayer) can play .rmvb natively, or install real alternative + mpc.
VLC cannot play .rmvb unless you mod the libraries | ||||

| i'd not have mentioned it if that was the case.
the libs are separate, are not a part of mplayer, and are not included with any vanilla release of mplayer. mplayer has native support of realmedia up to rv20, (which we are not talking about here) then it goes proprietary with rv30. and there's no native support for that. (although support is under development) mplayer is also a cross-platform tool, and these are win based codecs, although they work under linux with a wrapper. sure, the full package guis like smplayer, and gmplayer, and whatevermplayer come set up with the w32codec, but, it's not native. tripp |
