Convert VIDEO_TS folder into video & audio ES files?

boxingfanmike posted 2005 May 15 12:39
Is there a program that can convert the files or a file in the VIDEO_TS folder into video & audio elementary files? For example if I have a VIDEO_TS folder from a ripped DVD on my HD and I want to convert that into .M2V and .WAV or .AC3 files, is there a way to do this?

BTW, sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, not sure what category this falls into.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Any program that says it is capable of "demuxing" is what you are looking for. Also known as De-Multiplexing, it is the process of taking a .vob file, found on DVD's and splitting it into it's elementary streams (ES). Look around the How To's here, there are quite a few programs that can do it.

I recently acquired a sony dvd camcorder for christmas. However they did not send the editing software.
I am unable to edit any of my movies. I have a Windows XP PC to which i can copy my video. However the Windows Movie maker does not recognise the VIDEO_TS format and so i am unable to use this editing software on my movies.
can someone please tell me in step by step detail how to either 1) convert the file to something that Windows Movie maker can read OR 2) tell me of an editing software that will allow me to edit my movies as they are.

i also want to burn them when i am finished and give them out to play in a standalone dvd player. i hope whatever you suggest will help me.

i am happy to report that i have found bitripper that can convert my video_ts files to avi. I can then import the avi file into Windows Movie Maker and edit my videos. My camera was a sony dcr108
