    Hi,

I hope somebody can help me out. I moved to the island St. Maarten in the Carribean, and I brought my Dutch LG DVD recorder (RH188S) and I want to connect it to my Sony Bravia TV (KDL-32S3000). I connected the 2 divices with a coaxial cable (red/white/yellow). On the tv, I have picture and sound. The only thing is that the picture is in BLACK & WHITE. What to do?????? I've heard that in the Carribean, we have the same power/tv system as in the US.
In a store somebody told me it has to do with PAL or NTSC?? But where can I find that?

    Please help me!

(As you probably can tell by my question, I don't know anything about technical aspects, so please try to keep your answer simple... )

  2. Your machines are incompatible, you need to buy a NTSC recorder.

Is the TV an NTSC model? Can you tune to local NTSC TV channels?

You might have better luck connecting the DVD recorder to the TV with analog component YPbPr. That may allow you to play a PAL DVD or data fromthe HDD. Recording the that recorder will be problematic.

    Another answer!

If I check the specifications book of the TV it says: NTSC, American TV standard. So you think I should buy the analog component YPbPr?

It will be an experiment. I can play PAL DVD to my American Philips HDTV over analog component but not with composite or S-Video. Sony may be more restrictive.
