competition anouncement

mandana_cont posted 2006 Jan 16 20:42
The results were supposed to be announced on January 15th ,so what happened and when is it going to be announced?

gadgetguy posted 2006 Jan 16 20:57
It is my understanding that the announcement of the winners has been postponed so as not to influence the voting for the Members Favorite. Winners for all categories will be announced together.

Ahhh. That explains why there was no $500 prize announcements
yesterday :)

So then, my understanding leads me to beleive that there will be
TWO announcements..

1, the $500 grand prize, based on Mod/Admin vote, and
2, the Members Choice Awards

Yes, good call. Yes, very good call

Don't forget the 4 catagory awards. (Although I can't recall the names of the catagories right now.)

Yes, it is beginning to look like they'll postpone the results another two weeks. The question is, why? They could announce the judged winners now, like announced and widely anticipated, and they could have allowed voting for the two weeks prior to January 15th. Oh well, it's disappointing, but it only makes the eventual results all the more exciting. I wonder if there's any prize/reward for the Member's Choice?

We all should remember that:

a) This is the first time that this (or, I believe, any) competition has been run on this site, so there's going to be teething troubles and "tweaks".

b) The Admin / Mods are all volunteers and so a degree of leeway is called for - in short, give them a break! I'm sure they're learning lessons from this for the next competition.

c) Baldrick is a devious scoundrel, and all this is actually planned and designed to get the tongues wagging and the excitement building. :)

Option "C" seems to be a good choice, but maybe he wants you to think that, because things are not going well, or maybe he wants you to think that things are not going well when they actually are, and he wants you to think that things are going well but are really going very well and he wants you to think that they might not be going as well as expected but he knew that we would expect that so he wants us to think that.....

I got to get to a high speed connection so I can see them!

The truth is, all hell broke loose after what some considered to be a pornographic entry, was voted down for acceptance, and a full on food fight is in progress.

Food and drink are expected to run out by the 28th.

The official reason is posted here:

Well, I did notice that somebody did edit out the full-frontal nude shot of me in "City of Tomorrow," but I attributed that to jealousy on the part of the judges and don't hold that against anybody.

That was a joke!!! There was no pornography in my movie!!! True, I believe there may be a fleeting glimpse of a naked Pomeranian, but you know these screen extras, they're always trying to get noticed. :)
