| I suppose this is not a new topic, but I know very little on this stuff. I have a camcorder with firewire output and a PC with corresponding input (a Dell Latitude D830, with XP). I would use my PC to capture my camcorder movies (on miniDV tapes) and then save them as .avi files. Have you any software tool to suggest? (possibly free...)

| If you connect the camcorder, XP should pop up a window asking what you'd like to do. One of the options is to capture the video. If you don't like that then I'd suggest WinDV - a great little free applet that captures DV without any fuss. |
