Capturing NTSC tapes on PAL VHS and DVR

ramrod1234 posted 2009 Oct 23 21:08
Hey guys.
I recently got alot of Japanese VHS tapes (NTSC). And i live in Australia, therefore the format on all machines over here is PAL. If wanting to capture all these tapes to the best quality possible using my DVD recorder (which can record NTSC / PAL60 streams). Would it be better for me to get a NTSC SVHS player, or a PAL SVHS player (that can play NTSC tapes). Would it matter because of different formats? progressive/interlacing? When i record from the VHS NTSC tapes, interlacing is pretty bad (on the recorded footage). Would i still get bad interlacing if u used a NTSC SVHS player?

thanks heaps :D
