Can't play PCM audio from MPEG made from MKV |

| I had an MKV file which I used mkv2vob on to convert it into an MPG. It plays fine on my PS3 and even shows DTS on the receiver. However on the host computer, the audio doesn't play.
Mediainfo shows the audio is Audio ID : 4352 (0x1100) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : PCM Format settings, Endianness : Big Format settings, Sign : Signed Muxing mode : Blu-ray Duration : 49mn 46s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 1 536 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : Front: L R Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Resolution : 16 bits Stream size : 547 MiB (23%) I have no idea if the original MKV played or not (don't think it would have) but why can't I play the audio for this file? |

| What have you tried played with? Try VLC, SMPLayer, MPCHC, etc.
ANd please don't cross post your question. |

| I was using an older version of MPC that came with the K-lite codec pack. Interestingly, the new version of MPCHC won't even play the video for the file. It churns the disk for a minute and never starts playing (the play bar never moves). |

| And with VLC I get loud static for a second and it crashes VLC.
Sounds somewhat similar to what this person reported. http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-42/audio_static_while_playing ... io-789766/ |

| The vob/mpg is just designed for the ps3 so I guess it might not work that well on software players. Maybe try remux it to a mkv again using mkvtoolnix or to m2ts using tsmuxer. |

| I just got a hold of the original MKV again, and it plays perfectly (audio/video) in MPCHC. So something must have gone wrong in using MKV2VOB. I will try and recreate it and also try tsmuxer since I just found out about it and it has worked perfectly so far. |

| Using MKV2VOB on the working MKV resulted in the exact same issue again, no audio in MPC, can't play in MPCHC, and static/crash in VLC.
Oddly tsmuxer won't work on this file. I get an error code -2 Invalid SRT format. "016985B0" is invalid timing info Any ideas? |

| Nevermind, I think I found my answer.
TSMuxer has a problem with some subtitle files which have an extra line break. Simply deselecting the SRT file in tsmuxer fixes this. http://blog.microugly.com/2009/10/tsmuxer-invalid-srt-format.html |

| Well this is turning into a very interesting problem. So a file made from the MKV with MKV2VOB works on the PS3 but not on the computer
A file made from the MKV with tsmuxer (m2ts) works on the computer, but NOT the PS3(no audio). Very confused now. |

| Argh, looks like this is ALSO a know issue with tsmuxer and DTS audio/ps3.
