BIOS version | ||||||

| Hi All.
My CPU (Phenom II) appears on the following supported list. GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - CPU Support List - GA-MA785GT-UD3H (rev. 1.0) My CPU states 'F2' in the last column of the list. Have I understood it correctly that I need to ensure that my BIOS is at least version 2? If so, is there any way to check what my (not yet installed) motherboard's BIOS version is? The motherboard itself has rev 1 printed on it. Does this mean that it has BIOS version 1 on it? This is what the website says for BIOS version F2 - "Update CPU ID(AGESA 3.5.3.0 for PhenomII /AthlonII AM3 CPU)" GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS - GA-MA785GT-UD3H (rev. 1.0) Any help would be appreciated!

It needs to be version "F2", yes.
Hmm, F2 was released just a few months ago...I guess it'll depend on how long your particular M/B was at the vendor you bought it from. Probably can just get everything put together and boot the computer - the BIOS version will show on the initial POST screen. If it's F1, the PC should still boot, but it may not fully recognize the CPU (it might identify it as "generic AMD CPU" or something similar). Then just follow GB's BIOS upgrade instructions; there's also some good info at the Gigabyte forum at TweakTown: http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/bios-flashing-how-qflash-guide-27576/
No, that's rev of the PCB (printed circuit board). Hope that helps, Jim
