AVCHD Lite to MP4 (Panasonic TZ7 to Philips PFL8404H TV set) |

| Hi,
I am looking for a way to extract the video / audio from AVCHD Lite files (from the Panasonic TZ7 camera, PAL version) and play it on my Philips TV set. As I see in several entries in the forum there is not yet an easy way to do this because of the lack of support for AVCHD Lite. Something to do with the repeat flag in the header. (I am new to digital video so ,,,) I can play the files by connecting the camera to the TV via HDMI or I can use the TV as an external monitor to my computer. But I would like to store my files on an USB stick or external USB drive and play them through the TV USB input. I have tried to copy the video using XviD4PDP but this leaves me with an unusable MP4 file. I have tried several other things, but being new to digital video I get stuck. I can convert the files to MP4 using for example WinFF but this involves a conversion which I would like to avoid in order to preserve the quality. The AVCHD Lite file has the suffix of m2ts. According to MediaInfo the video is like this: Video ID : 4113 (0x1011) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.0 Format settings, CABAC : No Format settings, ReFrames : 1 frame Duration : 25s 960ms Bit rate : 14.5 Mbps Width : 1 280 pixels Height : 720 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 50.000 fps Standard : NTSC Resolution : 24 bits Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.314 Stream size : 44.8 MiB (95%) My TV set supports the following: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/faqview?slg=ENG&scy ... e%20suffix Any ideas please, thanks Arne Borg |

| This is NOT Blu-ray ripping. Moving you to our camcorders section. The video conversion section would also work fine.
It looks like it should work. Have you also tried remux to a mp4 using yamb, mp4muxer and avidemux(video and audio copy)? And what is the audio details? |

| Baldrick,
thanks for support an a prompt reply. Audio details are: ID/String : 4352 (0x1100) MenuID/String : 1 (0x1) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Duration/String : 25s 984ms BitRate_Mode/String : Constant BitRate/String : 192 Kbps Channel(s)/String : 2 channels ChannelPositions : L R SamplingRate/String : 48.0 KHz StreamSize/String : 609 KiB (1%) - So I guess I have to recode that to AAC. I have given the tools you recommend a first try. Only mp4muxer seems to understand the video stream. (MP4 runs half speed or does not run at all with the others). I have demuxed using TsMuxer and muxed the video only using mp4muxer (no audio). The resulting mp4 is playable on my PC and on the TV. However there is some visual noice at the end of the video both at the PC and on the TV which is not at the original. I will work more on this and report back. Maybe I also have to check the max bitrate for the TV. thanks again Arne Borg |

| Hi again,
now I have done a lot of testing but I have not found a way to transform AVDHC Lite files for showing directly on my TV without loosing quality. I have used tsMuxeR to demux and have tried different tools to build a MP4 file from the output. Mp4muxer will build a playable MP4 file but the picture has noise and blur. I think the problem lies in tsMuxeR. If I do a muxing using option “m2ts” and uses my m2ts file as input I would expect that the output would be equal to the input, but it is not. Blur an noise is added to the video. Are there any options for tsMuxeR which could explain this ? For the other tools: I cannot make avidemux read any of the files I work with, m2ts, 264. Vamp does not handle AVCHD Lite framerate properly. The same goes for Xvid4PSP. thanks, Arne Borg |
