| Recently I was stuck with a trojan that Norton or Kaspersky did not see or find but with the help of Spyware Doctor I was able to clean it out.
But here is the interesting problem, with the Spyware Guardian running in the background, the SVCDtoDVD loads fine but freezes up when I go to click Add Assets. Have to force the shutdown and start over. When I disable Guardian load assets works fine. Once the asset or assets are loaded I can reactivate Guardian, it does not affect the encoding process. Should be noted that within Spyware Doctor I had identified the svcdtodvd.exe to the allowed list but had no effect. Just curious if anyone else had come across this. Randalliser |

| Don't know about the particulars in your case, but it's been my experience that
resident shield type of protection often has the side-effect of interfering with just about anything non-trivial you try to do with your PC. Since almost all the nasties get on your machine through the browser, I've taken the approach of running the browsers in a sandbox instead of everything on my machine. One way to do this is with Sandboxie. Unfortunately with SP1 Sandboxie is no longer supported on a Windows 64 bit OS. But it still works fine on 32 bit flavors of Windows XP and Vista. I do the occasional scan for adware and viruses but I just don't leave the anti-virus running resident. It's much simpler to redirect browser disk writes to the sandbox folder. Also if you don't like that approach there are some free anti-virus that you can set up to filter the http input streams exclusively so the impact on other stuff is minimal. |
