Upgraded to 2.1g firmware and am now having problems reading burned DVDs in other PCs. Varies with the media that was used. Had better success with 2.1a Firmware. So, this is very disappointing to upgrade FW and take a step back in compatibility.

I updated the firmware V 2.1C and now I have errors with writing (+)media. (+) media used to work fine with this burner Before!! But the (-) media workes fine.

Did anyone get this problem?

Pretty quiet when burning and works well. Gets loud when just reading from a CD or DVD though.

Had no problems so far burning very cheap Yi-Jhan media at 4x. Very satisfied...

One more thing. The version of MyDVD that comes with the 530UL and 530A is 5.2.1, and includes Dolby Digital Encoding (for capture).

Have owned for about two months. No problems at all. 1 coaster, but that was MYDVD's fault. Don't forget to go to:
http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/drx530uldwn.htm
to get your firmware update! That will push this baby up to 8x DVD-R and +R, and 4x on -RW and +RW. I have used Sony -R, Fuji +RW, and TDK -R with absolutely no problems on my Vaio laptop.

Works great so far! No coasters, ofcourse I've only used ritekg03, and about to start using Pioneer Prodiscs. I'll update again to let you know how its going.
