I spent hundreds of hours and tried 3 peices of burning software, reinstalling and uninstalling and cleaning registries, trying to figure out what was wrong with the drive. I went through about 25 memorex 16X dvd+r, all of which stopped at 85 or 86%. i tried every setting and every speed and every possible permutation. (i was on the verge of reinstalling xp but that wouldn't have helped) it actually worked a for the first couple dvd's then one day it quit. so one day i got the idea that maybe it wasn't nero or roxio or 1click or that the drive was faulty and i went out and got myself some fujifilm dvd-r's and they worked great! I'm not sure if it was fujifilm is better than memorex or that it was because they were -r's. i never did update the firmware to 1.02 from 1.00 so that might fix the problem. the reason i rated it a six is because the support from lg was crap. other than that i would have rated it 8 once i figured out the problem.

Awsome writer, quiet as well. Works on any tested media.

Can be picky sometimes. I've had Verbatim 16X +R stop on me at 99% twice in the past 24 hours. Allowed the disc to be finalized and still plays without any freezing though. Works very well with cheaper media. Very good drive for the money ($50CAD). Haven't found any of the really fast discs to test it on yet (I can't find 5X DVD-RAM for instance) nor have I tested the Lightscribe function. Works great on data discs.

Prefect drive. Burns Verbatim 16x dvd+r and dvd-r within 6 minutes.
No coasters at all. The burnt dvd's play in all my dvd players. I'm happy with this drive. Probably one of the best drives there is at the moment.
