Comments:
This unit worked OK out of the box.
It was rather picky about what blank media it would use. I would not describe this unit as robust in the number of blank media codes it support.

For any of the blank media that were successful, none of the DVDs recorded could be recognized or read by any unit other than this unit. Even my PC DVD drive didn't recognize the burned single layer high quality Verbatim DVDs as a DVD and that drive will read anything.

I returned my unit back to the local retailer the same day of purchase and do not recommend purchase of this unit.

I bought a factory refurbished unit & have not had any of the problems that others have experienced. Maybe they've worked out the bugs.

What was Samsung thinking? Im so disappointed with this unit, you have no idea. What a great design and concept, but the VHS part of this combo system is a disaster.
The DVD recorder is a far cry from its cousin (Samsung DVR155) .
The DVDR 375 accomplished the "any disc" success to record on. Its big failure is the Dubbing and Synch problems.
Whom ever got approval (at Samsung)to mass produce this and send them out on the market, is now looking for work elsewhere. This is a big disaster and you will have nothing but problems with this particular combo unit.
The Samsung DVDR 155 is a great DVD Recorder, it offers S-video in, HDMI, price is far less, has twice the picture playback and no shut down with copyright cable shows .
Stick with the DVDR155 and you will have such a better recorder. But, it doesnt have dubbing or VHS. Try to use only -R discs, and only 8X or less speeds and you will be totally happy.
