Instruction manual necessary. Sub-menu is convoluted - compare the on screen menus with Lite-On and you'll see what I mean. When recording from OTR, and you need to hit Pause to omit commercials, then either resume at the propoer time, it's hit and miss. Focus on the unit display. It reads "OFF" and minutes remaining. Panasonic programmers can do a hell of a better job than they did with this model. Recommendation: Panasonic programmers, use Lite-On software in the panasonic unit until you can program your own to be more intuitive. Panasonic is my first priority for most electronic entertainment products. This one has been a heart-breaker; By their work in other Panasonic products, there is no doubt that their programmers can do a better job. I'll even volunteer to write the functional description for 'em. I've had this unit for about 2 years, and, it's a lot of work to burn content to DVDs.
